Learn from a Clinical MSW Curriculum
Building on its strengths as one of the top-ranked social work programs in the country, the online MSW enhances your skills and knowledge through a rigorous curriculum. 1
Graduates can demonstrate an ability to apply advanced theories to all aspects of clinical practice — treating individuals, families, couples, and groups. The dimensions of assessment and diagnosis are thoroughly addressed across the life span to enhance your knowledge of human development and psychopathology. This advanced micro practice instruction is also complemented by mezzo and macro courses, so graduates can understand how their clinical practice fits into the overall framework of social work in our government and society.
The full clinical MSW curriculum takes you through all foundation and advanced courses, so if you’re changing careers or the focus of your practice, you’ll be well prepared to meet the challenges of a variety of professional roles and client issues as a clinical social worker.
The Advanced Standing option considers your former social work education and experience in determining the coursework needed. If you qualify, you’ll focus solely on the Advanced Curriculum to complete your degree — shortening the length of time it takes you to earn your MSW degree and work towards your clinical license.
The online MSW field experience prepares you for the rigors and reality of clinical practice — it’s considered the gold standard of practice to obtain an online social work degree. Throughout your tenure in the program, you’ll prepare for evidence-based practice by participating in role-plays and completing case studies. Field experience builds upon this to provide you with real-world capabilities as you treat clients under the guidance and supervision of a social work practitioner. The Office of Field Education will work with you to approve your choice of an agency, so consider this an opportunity to explore and develop your career goals.
